Safeguarding

The Parish of St Mary and Modwen is dedicated to promoting and ensuring the protection of all children, young people and adults in vulnerable situations. We work closely with the Archdiocese of Birmingham, which works within the Catholic Church's national guidelines, to ensure that adults who have regular contact with children and youth have the relevant checks, are approved for their roles and trained in maintaining a safe environment within our parish. For more information, please visit our Archdiocesan Website and the relevant safeguarding pages, see button below.

Our Parish Safeguarding Representative is Denise Butler who can be contacted via e-mail: [email protected] or through the Parish Office. They assist and advise the clergy in establishing best practice with regard to all safeguarding matters.

If anyone has any concerns about safeguarding matters or wishes to speak about abuse suffered then please contact The Archdiocese of Birmingham Safeguarding Team on 0121 230 6240 or 07976516629 or e-mail:

Safeguarding in our Schools & Charities

Please Note: Whilst he Archdiocese is fully responsible for all safeguarding matters in parishes and in all other diocesan organised activities. It is not however responsible for safeguarding for other Catholic charities which operate in the diocese such as the Kenelm Youth Trust where the safeguarding responsibility is placed by law on the trustees.  Similarly each Multi Academy Company (“MAC”) or voluntary aided school (“school”) in the diocese has a statutory obligation for its own safeguarding. As a part of the diocesan family of schools, best practice can be shared between schools or between MACs, but the responsibility for safeguarding remains with each school or MAC.  For further information on this topic see the button below.

For safeguarding issues relate to St. Modwen's Catholic Primary School please contact the School,
see Schools page.
